Romblon State University (RSU) proudly participated in ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ 2024, held from December 2 to 4, 2024, in Marinduque. The event, a vibrant celebration of creativity and innovation, featured workshops and forums designed to enhance skills in arts, culture, and creative industries.
Under the leadership of University President Dr. Merian Catajay-Mani, along with Vice Presidents Dr. Tomas T. Faminial (Administration and Finance), Atty. Glenn Niรฑo Sartillo (Learning and Student Affairs), Prof. Dr. Eddie G. Fetalvero (Research, Extension, and Development Initiatives), and Dr. Emelyn F. Montoya (Academic Affairs), RSU reaffirmed its dedication to promoting the creative arts. Representing the university at the event were Dr. Mark G. Calimbo, University Dean of Instructions, and Mr. John B. Fabello, BEEd Program Chair.
Dr. Calimbo highlighted RSUโs ongoing efforts to support the creative industry, stating, โWe have celebrated the Philippine Creative Industry Month for two years now, beginning in 2023. Looking ahead, we hope to further encourage students to explore outputs in various creative industry pillars as applicable to their subjects.โ
The universityโs participation in Fiesta Haraya underscores its dedication to fostering innovation, collaboration, and cultural appreciation among students and faculty. Romblon State University (RSU), through its Dean of Instruction, Dr. Mark G. Calimbo participated in the TESDA Romblon Presentation and Consultation of Provincial Skills Priorities and Job Requirements held on November 27, 2024, at Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT), Poblacion, Alcantara, Romblon. The event served as a platform to align educational and training institutions with the evolving skills demand of the local and possibly global job markets.
The consultation was spearheaded by Ms. Rochelle Bantang Zulueta, who facilitated the activity with a focus on refining and updating provincial skills priorities. Ms. Zulueta presented the findings from an initial consultation with Technical Training Institutions (TTIs) and Technical-Vocational Institutions (TVIs). New key priorities identified included Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Maritime, Social and Community Development Services, Visual Arts, and other emerging service-oriented sectors. Present during the activity were Industry Partners from various sectors, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as represented by Mr. Philip D. Ruga โ Provincial Director, Technical Vocational Institutions, RNIT, Provincial Training Centers- Romblon, and other stakeholders.
In her presentation, Ms. Zulueta emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration among stakeholders to ensure that the workforce remains competitive and adaptive. Ms. Vanessa Jane D. Aceveda, Acting Provincial Director, conveyed an inspiring message underscoring the significance of aligning education and training programs with the needs of the industry to create sustainable employment opportunities and drive economic growth in the province.
Dr. Mark G. Calimbo, representing RSU, expressed the universityโs full support for the initiative. He highlighted the importance of such consultations to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices and reminded the participants to consider the incorporation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in their extension activities. RSUโs engagement in these dialogues reaffirms its commitment to help the province produce competent manpower equipped to meet the demands of an evolving workforce.
This consultation marks a crucial step in fostering synergy among educational institutions, government agencies, and industry leaders in Romblon. Through such collaborative efforts, the province aims to build a skilled workforce that not only meets the demands of todayโs job market but also anticipates future opportunities in emerging fields.

Romblon State University in partnership with the National Archives of the Philippines conducted a Records Management Training Workshop at the University Learning Resource Center last August 15-16, 2024.
The primary aim of this activity is to improve the effective records inventory and disposition program of the university and ensure valuable information, which is essential to the operations of the universityโs documentary preservation.
This significant event was attended by Office Documented Officers with college deans, unit heads, and campus directors.
On the first day, the program commenced with a Records Management Improvement Committee (RMIC) preliminary briefing with the resource persons from the Records Management Services Division of the National Archives of the Philippines.
The second day highlights the inclusive and meaningful discussions and active involvement among participants, which developed a comprehensive understanding of records management strategies and maintenance transparency and accountability. The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Emelyn F. Montoya also delivered an inspiring welcome remark to all the guests and participants.
University President, Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani delivered her words of challenge encouraging all participants to engage in this significant training workshop.
โThis workshop is one of the many ways we unite and consolidate our efforts in fulfilling our promise of serving with honor and excellence. Together, we can achieve great things and continue to uphold high standards in terms of records management,โ said Pres. Mani.
Romblon State University extends its sincere gratitude to the National Archives of the Philippines resource persons: Mr. Marvin Erwin M. Supan, Records Management Analyst II, and Mr. Gerald I. De Guzman, Records Management Analyst I, for sharing their valuable insights for this training workshop. Romblon State University (RSU) continues its efforts to elevate education standards through the conduct of the AACCUP Online Accreditation today at 9:00 AM via ZOOM Meetings. The event was graced by top university officials led by President Merian P. Catajay-Mani, deans, directors, faculty, staff, and esteemed evaluators from AACCUP, led by Dr. Christopher S. Vicencio, Coordinator and Dr. Ruben Esmalde Borja II, Coordinator.
Pres. Mani extended a warm welcome to all participants, emphasizing the significance of their expertise and evaluations in RSUโs pursuit of academic excellence.

The president commended the efforts of RSUโs quality assurance unit, led by Ms. Jinky Fallaria, for spearheading the accreditation process. Special recognition was also given to Dr. Philip R. Baldera and his team at the Graduate Education and Professional Studies for their rigorous preparation of documents and requirements for the Level 2 accreditation of programs such as the Master in Business Administration, Master in Educational Leadership and Management, Master in Public Administration, and PhD in Educational Leadership and Management.
Dr. Poly Banagan, Director of San Agustin Campus, was acknowledged for facilitating the preparations for the accreditation of the BS Criminology program for Level 2. The RSU community extends its heartfelt thanks to the AACCUP evaluators for their time and dedication in participating in this virtual accreditation, bridging the distance to ensure the continuous improvement of RSUโs academic programs.

Dr. Catanes, along with Chief Education Specialist Engr. Edgar C. Cepe and Education Supervisor II Leseลe O. Condeza, was welcomed by RSU, spearheaded by the University President, Dr. Merian P. We are thrilled to celebrate Liu Kzean Fabregas, a Senior High School student at RSU Laboratory Science High School, for winning the โPeopleโs Choice Awarsโ of the 2024 Capture the Heart in Health Research Photo Contest (General Public Category) organized by the Department of Science and Technology โ Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) in its 42nd Anniversary Celebration.
