Romblon State University (RSU) TES and TDP scholars proved that being an Iskolar ng Bayan goes beyond receiving financial support—it also means actively contributing to environmental stewardship and community well-being.

On February 13, beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) took part in the university-wide conduct of the 5th Tipanan sa Inang Kalikasan (TSIK), held simultaneously across RSU’s main campus and satellite campuses. The initiative brought together student scholars, faculty, and staff in a unified effort to promote environmental advocacy, sustainability, and collective action for nature.

In show of their support for Tipanan sa Inang Kalikasan, TES and TDP scholars engaged in campus clean-up and waste segregation activities within the University, helping promote proper waste management practices and cleaner, greener learning spaces. These efforts reinforced the idea that scholars are not only recipients of government support but also partners in nation-building—translating gratitude into concrete, community-centered action.

Across campuses, TES and TDP scholars played active roles in mobilizing fellow students, coordinating with campus administrators, and engaging local communities. In some satellite campuses, activities extended beyond university grounds to nearby barangays, reflecting RSU’s commitment to environmental responsibility that goes beyond campus borders and into the broader community.

The scholars also took part in the opening program of the TSIK, where RSU President Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani emphasized the importance of reconnecting with nature as a pathway to well-being, highlighting environmental care not only as an institutional responsibility but also as a personal and collective practice. The integration of sustainability and wellness served as a guiding framework for the day’s activities.

University officials and program coordinators commended the TES and TDP beneficiaries for embodying the true spirit of public service. As recipients of government-funded assistance programs, scholars carry the responsibility of turning opportunity into impact—not only through academic excellence but also through social and environmental engagement.

The Tipanan sa Inang Kalikasan aligns with RSU’s thrust toward sustainability and responsible citizenship, echoing the broader call to protect the environment as part of everyday civic duty. More than a one-day activity, TSIK stands as a continuing reminder that environmental care is a shared responsibility—one that RSU scholars are uniquely positioned to lead.

From Iskolar ng Bayan to community builders, RSU’s TES and TDP beneficiaries continue to show that the true measure of scholarship lies not only in what one receives, but in how one gives back—to the University, to the community, and to Inang Kalikasan.
