In honor of the Month of the Ocean, RSUvians across eight campuses united to participate in a massive coastal clean-up campaign in different areas, highlighting the significance of preserving and protecting our marine ecosystems. This year’s celebration was adopted from UNESCO’s Ocean Decade Challenge 3, “Sustainably Feed the Global Population.” This concerted effort aims to raise awareness about our oceans’ growing challenges and inspire every RSUvian to take action for a healthier and more sustainable future. The University President, Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, spearheaded this year’s clean-up efforts with the University Advocacy Officer, Mr. Edgardo F. Fadallan, and University 7S Coordinators.
Present during the event were the top University Officials, including Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Tomas T. Faminial; Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Emelyn F. Montoya; Vice President for Research, Extension, Development, and Innovation, Dr. Eddie G. Fetalvero; and Chief Administrative Officer, Atty. Glenn Niño M. Sartillo.
Deans and directors of different units, students, and volunteers also set out at the coastline of Budiong, Odiongan, Romblon, and other beachfront identified by the various campuses to work towards creating a lasting impact towards more responsible environmental practices.
This significant event, celebrated annually, is the University’s commitment to safeguarding the oceans, which we must continue. Let this Month of the Ocean remind us that our actions today determine the legacy we leave for future generations.
