APLAYA: A Comprehensive Fisheries Livelihood Extension Program
APLAYA is a Filipino term which means land along the sea (Dalampasigan, tabin-dagat). This definition reflects the characteristics of the municipality of Sta. Maria which is along the sea where most of their constituents get their living through fishing. Aplaya is a place where fisher folks gather together before and after fish catching activities. This becomes a waiting place of fishermen spouses and do their businesses.

Romblon State University, in partnership with, the Santa Maria Campus, is oneof the identified partners of Land Bank Countryside Development Foundation, Inc. (LCDFI) which aims to provide the training and developmental interventions to improve farmer’s financial management skills and create “agripreneurship” or improve cooperative’s capacity to deliver quality services to its membership, positively impacting to their business performance and operations.
