February 25, 2026 - Romblon State University (RSU) marked a significant milestone in expanding educational infrastructure, with the groundbreaking ceremony for a new academic building at its Sta. Fe Campus in Barangay Magsaysay, Sta. Fe, Romblon.
The event signals the start of construction aimed at enhancing facilities for the College of Marine Sciences and Aquatic Resources and supporting growing student enrollment on the island campus.
Dr. Rey P. Rasgo, Campus Director of the College of Marine Sciences and Aquatic Resources, delivered the opening remarks.
Engr. Brix Vicente Fabic, the emcee, introduced the guests and officials.
University President Prof. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, Ed.D., CESE, provided an inspirational message, emphasizing the project’s role in advancing RSU’s commitment to accessible, quality higher education in remote areas of Romblon province.
Engr. Jennifer Galoso, Head of the Physical Planning and Development Unit of IPPDO, presented the background of the Project, highlighting its alignment with the university’s development goals.
The ceremony included a groundbreaking prayer, a pledge of commitment from the contractor, a group photo opportunity, and closing remarks by Tomas T. Faminial, CPA, DBA, Vice President for Administration and Finance.
The new academic building is expected to provide modern classrooms, laboratories, and support spaces, addressing infrastructure needs at the Sta. Fe Campus—one of RSU’s satellite locations serving local communities.
RSU has been actively pursuing facility upgrades across campuses to bolster its role as the province’s premier university for programs promoting blue and green industries.
