Romblon State University (RSU) will hold a special screening of the award-winning short film Handum on February 10, 2026, at the University Audio-Visual Room (AVR), in celebration of a story that highlights perseverance, resilience, and faith.

Handum recently garnered the Special Jury Prize and placed 4th at the MIMAROPAlikula 2025 Film Festival, bringing recognition to RSU’s growing creative and cultural initiatives. The film tells the inspiring journey of Mr. Jay-Ar G. Beloy, an RSU alumnus, first-generation college graduate, and Magna Cum Laude of Batch 2022, who is now serving as a faculty member of the University.
More than a narrative of academic achievement, Handum presents a grounded and human story of persistence—reminding viewers that success is not measured by honors alone, but by the courage to keep moving forward despite challenges and setbacks. The film particularly resonates with first-generation students, reflecting the realities and quiet triumphs of those who carve their own paths in higher education.

The screening is free and open to all RSUvians, with priority encouraged for first-generation students. Each screening will accommodate up to 120 participants. The detailed screening schedule will be released tomorrow.

The University invites students, faculty, and staff to take part in this meaningful cinematic experience and to celebrate stories that reflect RSU’s values of service, honor, and excellence.
