Romblon State University welcomed Mr. David Parks, Project and Advancement Coordinator for International at Dalhousie University, Canada, during his visit to the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) on February 20, 2026.
Mr. Parks delivered a lecture on global trends in organic agriculture, providing students with valuable insights into emerging practices, sustainability frameworks, and international developments in the field. The lecture was attended by CAFES students and faculty members, who actively participated in the discussion on how global agricultural innovations can be contextualized within local and regional farming systems.
The visiting international academic was warmly received by the CAFES community, led by Campus Director Dr. Alfredo F. Fortu, Jr., together with faculty members and staff of the college. The visit served as a meaningful platform for academic exchange and strengthened RSU’s efforts to internationalize its academic programs, particularly in agriculture and environmental sciences.
In addition to the lecture, Mr. Parks met with RSU students who previously participated in the Dalhousie University Summer Enrichment Camp held in June 2025. During the one-month Comprehensive Learning Immersion Program (CLIP), RSU sent 18 students to Canada for an international academic and cultural exposure experience. The interaction provided an opportunity for program alumni to reconnect with Dalhousie University representatives, reflect on their learning experiences, and share how the program contributed to their academic and personal development. The students also shared that they are now managing their own student-led greenhouse, modeled after Dalhousie University’s Cultiv8 student-led farm.
RSU and Dalhousie University have maintained active institutional engagement since 2023, marked by student mobility initiatives, academic exchanges, and collaborative learning programs. The recent visit of Mr. Parks further strengthens the partnership between the two universities and highlights RSU’s commitment to providing globally relevant learning experiences for its students.
Through international collaborations such as this, RSU continues to expand opportunities for global exposure, knowledge exchange, and the development of globally competent graduates, particularly in fields critical to sustainable development such as agriculture, forestry, and environmental sciences.
