Romblon State University joined the nation in commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution through a solemn Prayer Brigade organized by the Supreme Student Council – Main, led by its Student Leader (SL) Mark Lambert F. Fornea yesterday, February 25, 2026. The activity gathered student leaders from various colleges and campuses across the University in a meaningful show of unity, remembrance, and civic reflection.

The candle-lit ecumenical prayer was led by University President Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Gianinna Elaine M. Labicane, and Ms. Patricia L. Rivas, Head of the Multi-Faith & Special Needs Services Office. The interfaith gathering underscored RSU’s commitment to inclusive spiritual formation and the nurturing of values grounded in peace, justice, and democratic participation.

Participants took part in a symbolic candle-lighting ceremony, followed by the singing of “Pilipinas Kong Mahal,” evoking a shared sense of patriotism and collective memory. Reflections on the historical significance of the EDSA People Power Revolution highlighted the power of nonviolent action, solidarity, and moral courage in shaping the nation’s democratic path.

The Prayer Brigade served not only as a commemoration of a pivotal moment in Philippine history, but also as a formative space for RSU student leaders to reflect on their responsibilities as citizens and future leaders. Through this activity, RSU reaffirmed its commitment to holistic education—one that cultivates not only academic excellence, but also social awareness, ethical leadership, and a deep sense of nationhood.

As the candles were lit and prayers offered, the RSU community stood in quiet solidarity with the spirit of EDSA, honoring the past while renewing its collective commitment to peace, freedom, and democratic ideals for the present and the future.
